New Battery Pack Break IN

4 new Trojan T-1275's are on the way for my RXV and I want to break them in right. From the threads I've read on the subject the recommendations seem to be to 1. Do an initial full charge on the pack. 2. Discharge the pack to about 50% (but no more) for several cycles followed by a full charge each time. If I don't use the cart enough to discharge to 50% on a given day should I not plug in the charger until I have sufficiently discharged the pack? The general advice is that if the cart isn't being used it should be plugged in but is this true for the break in period? Should I expect much water consumption during the break in period? Is an early equalization charge recommended or only when indicated by a difference in battery voltages? Any other tips or recommendations?

Unless the battery pack was received with less than 80% SoC or so, it is okay to drive cart a few feet to make sure everything is working after installing the new batteries, but no more than that until batteries have received a full charge.

Don't discharge batteries below 70% SoC for the first couple dozen charge cycles. Never discharge the batteries below 50% SoC.

The 70% is a limit rather than a goal. Put on charge after each use, regardless of how high of a charge remains on them. Or at least put on charge every night if the cart is driven that day.

If the cart is only used for short trips, try to work in a couple of longer trips during the break-in period, or take two or three trips the same day without charging between trips. (But don't let batteries sit overnight in partially discharged state)

Water consumption can be high during the break-in period, so keep a close eye on it. Once a week at first and then play it by ear until you figure out how often they need to be checked.

Equalization charge every couple months, or for 12V batteries, when the individual battery voltage get more than about 0.2V from each other.

On top of what Johnnie already said.......with the weather getting cooler, and after the break-in.....just so you know and don't get caught unaware down the road. your batteries water levels will very with the time of the year. during the summer you will experience a higher water usage than in the winter. But as Johnnie stated, keep an eye on them. better to check them more often and not need to put in any water at times (DEMINERALIZED WATER ONLY), then not to check them often enough and cause some damage.
