DPI charger question
I bought a DPI charger and it has several diff modes to choose depending on the brand of battery you have.
I have 2 diff brands mixed in my cart. Does it really matter that much if I just use the factory mode setting? The instruction manual is 36 pages long😛 Thanks |

Re: DPI charger question
Different batteries have slightly different voltages. For optimal performance they all need to be pretty close in voltage. It will work, just not as good. Mode 2 factory setting would probably be the best until you can get a matching set of batteries.

Re: DPI charger question
Depends on which dpi you have. The older style was mode 2 but I think that has changed on the new version. Trojan is now mode 4

Whoa, never heard of this "Trojan is now mode 4" stuff before, can anyone else confirm? I'm gonna consult DPI.

I'm not the thread starter but I have the Gen IV 48 volt charger. I use it on a four US Battery 12 volt pack. It works fine and I am using mode 7. The instructions are not very good. I called them when I got my charger because the instructions were written for switches and leds that were horizontal but they are vertical on this charger. They have added to the instructions on their website since I talked to them but it still isn't very clear. The section about setting the mode and what the flashing leds mean should be rewritten. I think the instructions are still wrong about which vertical switch number matches the horizontal switches. The number one switch is the bottom switch and number five is the top switch. The leds are the same (number one is the bottom led). If you are facing the front of the charger and lay it on the right side, when setting the mode, then you can use the horizontal left to right settings without converting to up and down. The main thing is to make sure the correct leds flash when you plug the charger in. Then you know you are in the correct mode. |
