Default EZ Go Crawls + Brake light ON

Hey guys, I have a 2013 Ezgo RXV and it is 48volts. The motor is an Iskra amt7109 48volt.

I was riding in the cart and I was forced to hit the brakes pretty hard. The cart immediately shut off and now it is in limp mode forward and backward.
- I towed it home and charged it all night.
- I tried pulling the brake back towards me.

It has brand new batteries.
The brake light seems to be stuck on as well!

If anyone has any ideas please let me know! I am praying it doesn't need a full motor replacement.

Turn key to N put cart in tow mode. Can you push cart?

Sounds like a Speed Encoder to me. Brake light is on all the time???

I believe we tried putting it in N and tow mode with no luck. I rolled it home on furniture dollys last night! Haha I will try to put in tow mode and neutral again and see if I can push it.

Limp mode is a couple miles per hour. Is this what it is doing? Moving but very slow. That is what points to the Speed Encoder.

Brake lights always on is a indicator of brake test failures. Will need a new brake. But, feel lucky, almost none of those old "lever brakes" are still in service, you did good.

I agree with cgtech, hitting the brakes hard on anything other than grass usually results in destroying the "parking" motor brake. E-Z-GO uses it as an "emergency stop" brake, but it was designed to do that with much less traction. Larger tires, driving on pavement, carrying more load than 2 golfers with golfbags, ect... Those are beyong the design specs for the motor brake load condition. You probably grenaded the motor brake. The brake lights are activated by the controllers reading of the brake condition.

Alright... So I pulled out the old motor brake today and it was indeed the lever kind. However, I am not sure if it was good or not because the new one didnt work either! I installed a brand new one and plugged it in with no luck! Cart still crawls.... Should I try the bearing encoder next? Are there any test that I can try to make sure I am getting the right part this time around?

Also, is it possible that incorrectly torquing motor brake could lead to it still crawling? I tried to follow instructions but I am being hopeful that its an easy fix... :(

Thanks so much! Any ideas whether improper torque or install on the motor brake would cause limp mode? Can anyone briefly outline the install process?

Here you go.

Replacing the Park Brake on an E-Z-GO RXV

Remove the two T27 torx screws on the rear cover
Choke the wheels
Disconnect the negative cable on the battery pack
Turn the ignition key to reverse, wait till the reverse indicator becomes silent then turn key off
Disconnect wire harness from motor brake
Remove the three 10mm hex screws and lock washers from brake
If bolts are rusty replace them
Remove brake if there is residue on motor be sure to clean it use a wire brush
Position the brake with the connector at the top, install the three hex screws loosely.
Connect wire harness to the motor brake, re-connect battery negative cable
Turn ignition to neutral, turn Run/Tow switch to Tow position, this provides power to the brake to align the disc material
Set torque wrench between 53 to 65 in. lbs (6-8 Nm) and tighten screws to sure not to over tighten
Turn key back to the off position
Move Run/Tow switch back to Run position
Put rear back cover on
