Rural King Batteries -- Comparison??
A friend is needing new batteries---6 6 volt.
He is talking about getting them from Rural King. Anybody have experience with these? How would they compare with Trojan or Powertron? They appear to be made by Exide. I don't see a 20 amp rating in their info. Wt. 59 lbs |

Trojan T-105: Capacity in minutes: @25 Amps 447, @75 Amps 115. Weight 62 lbs. for comparison.
Don't have detailed info on the Powetrons but comments about them have been generally favorable over time on this forum I would say. |

Have never used Rural king so no comment there. As far as I understand Powertron is made by Trojan and its there 2nd tier battery

Mine are model GC-145 which are 245AH with 145 minutes of runtime at 75A and have been connected to a DPI Accusense charger whenever the cart isn't in use. I'm fairly certain what he is looking at is the Exide model GC-110 which is 186AH and has 110 minutes of runtime at 75A. Rural King lists them as model GC-115G, but I suspect that is Rural King's model rather than Exide's since Rural King lists the runtime @75A as 110 minutes and Exide uses the run time as part of the model number. See attachment-1. 2. There are more differences between the different grade batteries with the same brand name than there are differences between the same grade batteries with different brand names. So you have to compare same grade batteries. 3. See attachment-2 |

Re: Rural King Batteries -- Comparison??
Thanks for the replies.
JohnnieB, I think you are right about the GC-115G at the closest Rural King. I have Powertron p2000 in my '92 Ezgo cart. 2 years old and runs well. Used every day and charged daily. Have added no water. Seems like the ah rate is 218, while Trojan is 225(?). I pay about $465 for a 36 volt set. Would have to drive about 20 miles further for that price. We will see what he wants to do. |
