Default 99 txt is slow

I have 99 txt. Brand new set of Trojans (T-105). Alltrax 400a controller. 8 hp
Motor. It will do 14 mph and has no power going up small hills
I am 215lbs.

What can I do to get more torque and speed?

Any help will be appreciated

What exact motor do you have? Slow top end and weak uphills sounds contradictory.

Generally you get either torque or speed.

We also need to know whether you have a series or sepex motor/controller.

It is a series cart. The motor is a d&d.

the fact that its a series cart.....and it going 14 mph, with stock wheels/tires, that's as fast as a STOCK motored series cart will go.
you have a 400 amp controller......hopefully you have larger cables on it (4 ga. at least) and a 200 amp solenoid or better yet a 400 amp HD solenoid.

THEN you have some options to upgrade to a "SPEED" motor.

The cart in my signature has a top speed of 17mph, but it has a lot of torque. Possibly an upgrade to 48v would meet your needs?

Need to know more about cart and specifics on motor and controller to figure out why it wimps out on hills
What is the model number of the D&D motor?
What is the model number of the Alltrax series drive controller?
What size tires are on cart?

In very general terms, it sounds like the amps the batteries can produce are not getting to the motor, however why they aren't is a mystery until more is known about the cart and amp delivery system.

From what I could find on the motor it looks like 170-006-0001
The controller is DCX 400
Solenoid is 200 amp

It used to go faster and does seem to go faster when you first start off

Motor and controller mismatch, surprised that it runs at all.

A 170-006-0001 is a high-speed series motor (21MPH on stock height tires with 15% less torque than a stock motor) while the DCX400 is a sepex controller for DCS or PDS drive systems.

Okay, AXE controller and high-speed motor. With stock height tires (18" tall), at 36V, the cart ought to do about 21 MPH, but will have about 15% less torque than a stock motor, so it will slow more on hills than a stock motor, but it has a higher top speed, so the uphill speed may be higher than a stock cart.

If the tires are taller than 18", the top speed will be higher, but the slowing on hills will be greater.

You stated it used to be faster, and it seems to be faster when you first start off. That indicates there is excessive resistance in the high current cables, connections and/or contacts. Check for anything getting hot after a hard run and repair or replace everything that is.

All 13 high current cables ought to be 4Ga or thicker and with that motor and controller, you most likely need one of Scottyb's heavy-duty F/R switches or reversing contactors to get max performance. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/f---r--switches.html
