jnuebig , when you say you had a delta q charger, was it the small one that looked just like the cheap powerwise QE? Or was it a yellow one like the Qui?
I'd like to know what charger allowed you to get 6 years out of the trojans? |

Rxv tech here .
if replacing batts.... please get the 6x8v battery conversion tray. this allows you to use the 8v batteries instead of the 12v batts. the 8v are more reliable, last longer and drive further than 12v batts. this is from experience with carts in a golf cart community setting with substantial hills. Also a 48v to 12v voltage reducer PROPERLY installed is a must for battery life. as always with RXV's DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WIRE ANYTHING TO FACTORY WIRE HARNESS OR KEYSWITCH !!!!!!! Note: DO NOT F&^% WITH RXV WIRE HARNESS !!!!! ******Warning see note above****** |

It was actually the little silver cheapie that came with the cart. I bought the cart last year from the original owner and that's the charger he gave me. I have no idea if it was the original one he got with the cart or otherwise. I was shocked the batteries were still in service. Never had a set last that long. It was running fine, but I was only getting about 60% of the run time I am getting out of the new pack. I bought the DPI because it sits for a week or two at a time at one of our buildings when not being brought to campgrounds. I wanted a charger that would maintain as well.

Re: All RXV owners- 2008 to 2012 PLEASE ANSWER
Just changed the batteries out in my brothers 09. Had 2012 T1260s that still worked but were getting weak. Put T1275s back in it. Has the black and yellow Qui charger.. Was going to go the 6-8 route but by the time he hauled it to me, 2 1/2 hours each way, cost of the new tray and other misc it would have been close to $300 more to swap over.. For his use he doesn't need the extra range..

Re: All RXV owners- 2008 to 2012 PLEASE ANSWER
I have a 2008 RXV Shuttle 2+2 with January 2012 batteries in it. The batteries were factory installed US Battery US 12V XC that I took out of the 2012 RXV that I wrecked. The batteries were charged with a yellow QuiQ charger that came with the 2012. Several months back, the QuiQ charger malfunctioned. So I upgraded to a DPI Accusense charger from ScottyB. Those batteries are still performing well, despite the 6 years of age. I upgraded the 2008 RXV to a Curtis controller when I installed the batteries in it, but controller brand should not really affect battery life. I may be switching to a set of 100 A/H Lithium cells in the future, but I wanted to wait until those US Batteries were really needing replacement. I've not put one of my desulphator units on any of these yet, have not seemed to need it.

Re: All RXV owners- 2008 to 2012 PLEASE ANSWER
What i am trying to see here, is if the oem light weight charger is damaging the 12 volt batteries. I have 18 customers with rxvs between 2008 and 2012, all with 12 volt trojans, all have factory oem light weight charger, all batteries are less than 2 years old, all batteries are failing. I am getting run times between 28 and 43 minutes. I believe trojan bases their warranty on 60 minutes run time.
I want to see if others are having the same issues i am seeing here. |
