48v conversion for 99 TXT
i am currently converting my 99 TXT from 36v to 48v. i have ordered everything i need, i think, from ScottyB. My question is, my cart currently has 6 six month old Trojan T605s, should just add two more 605s in the bagwell or try and sell my current batteries and buy 6 8v? Also i will be selling my current charger (36v power wise), motor (AMD 7176 07/20/16), controller (SPM 48300EZ) if anyone is interested. Is the best place to sell them in the classified section on this site? Thanks for any help and advise.

Re: 48v conversion for 99TXT
Welcome to BGW > Having done both, I would sell the T605 and install 6 T875. The convenience of installing and maintaining 6 batteries under the seat outweighs any run time benefits I gained with 8/6v. Also the cart lost weight with the 8v and that improved the power to weight ratio which improves performance.

Re: 48v conversion for 99 TXT
Thanks Scottie. I think i am going to change out my batteries to 8v. My current batteries are stamped F5 and E5 on the terminals and someone told me that means they are June 2015 so they are 2.5 years old. not sure if that is correct or not (the guy i bought the cart from said they were 6 months old) if this is true i am definitely going to switch them out.

Re: 48v conversion for 99 TXT
Yes E5 indicates May of 2015 they are close to 3yrs into their 5 yr life span. You can sell them on CL to re-coupe some expense. But !
IF this is the same cart I just packed up a 8/6v cable set for you need to email me NOW before it ships out or your cable set won't fit! |

Re: 48v conversion for 99 TXT
Lol, batteries went from 6 monts age to 2.5 years in only 5 hours. You wouldn't believe how many times I have seen this strange occurrence. If this conversion is happening on your stretch cart in your avitar, I would say the maximum capacity offered by a matched 8x 6v pack might be worth considering.

Re: 48v conversion for 99 TXT
Not everybody needs maximum capacity. Besides 8/6v comes with an additional 150 pounds of dead weight which this thing does not need.
A set of Trojan T875 or better T890 will do just fine. |
