Default Any ideas how best to deal with this??? rusted motor lugs???

the motor is still good just... even if i get the nuts off, the lugs are in such poor condition, just not sure if these terminals can be replaced or wire brushed to get back to solid metal for a good connection... any experience? thoughts?

Soak them in Pb blaster over night. Use 2 wrenches, one to hold the bottom nut and the other to turn the top nut.

If you get a too much resistance after letting it soak over night, don't force it, just soak it again then retry.

A stiff wire wheel on a drill will remove the rust from the exposed threads making it more likely the nut will thread off if you do get it to move.

If you spin the stud and damage brushes or wires-- you will need a brush kit---
get one with all hardware nuts+insulators that will make life easier.

That's only on the A studs. Turn one of the field studs and break them you'll be in a world of trouble!

One of my Aston Martin technicians turned me onto this stuff:

It's called Aerokroil
http://www.kanolabs.com/penLub.html#anchor173855

Weird name, but works like a champ. We've used it on frozen exhaust studs, rusted chassis bolts, etc.
Soak, wait overnight, try one time, maybe need a second application.

Definitely follow NCPW's advice and use two wrenches.

Kroil is the best I have found. Aerokroil is the spray version. Better than PB Blaster. Be patient on tough things. A couple or three application efforts is prudent.
