Default Potentiometer fried?

1982 ezgo marathon 36v. Only going in super speed or nothing. Pulled it apart and found this. Is it salvageable if I clean it up and file all contacts flat or is it too far gone?

you can by replacement parts to fix that, and reuse the old board.

Depending upon your budget and expertise you may want to resurface those contacts but it's 30+ yr old stuff.
Updating and converting to solid state is another way to FIX the problem.
