Default Ezgo rxv electric differential oil

I have read a few posts on this subject and am somewhat confused.

The April 2009 service manual specifies 25oz 'Mobile 424' which I assume is Mobifluid 424. Interestingly the Mobil spec sheet for this oil states for "Applications requiring API GL-4 or SAE 80W grade lubricants in all gear applications except hypoid gear designs". So I guess this is the old spec oil that was causing problems.

A 2014 version of the owners manual now states 25oz Mobilube 85w-140 plus 2oz of friction modifier.

Mobilube 85w-140 is not specifically a limited slip diff lubricant, so I assume the addition of the friction modifier then converts it to one?

Q1. Is there any advantage to using Mobilube 85w-140 plus the friction modifier V's a just an 85w-140 Limited Slip Diff oil?

Q2. If using a limited slip diff oil should the friction modifier still be retained ?

Default Re: Ezgo rxv electric differential oil

I add 2 oz friction modifier anyway, it won't hurt. And yes, get that 424 tractor fluid outta there

I have my own concoction that I use. 2oz friction modifier, and 50/50% Yamaha shaft drive gear oil (rated for posi) , and Lucas oil stabilizer.
