High torque motor question

I have the opportunity to purchase a GE high torque motor (used) and I have a question. The motor model number is 5BC49JB1132.

The info stamp on the motor list it ad a 36 volt but when I research it I find some info that list it as a 36/48 motor. I am wanting to build a 48 volt cart but am unsure if this motor will work as a 48 volt.

Any motor gurus out there that can steer me right?

A 36 volt motor will do well on 48 volts.

I am certainly not a motor guru but can offer the following comments:

Motor RPM is listed at 1600 rpm ... seems kind of low. My GE Model 5BC49JB3054 is a 6.5 hp, 48 volt motor rated at 4700 rpm. It would be interesting to compare the rated rpm of the motor in question to other golf cart motors. Rear end gear ration would have to be compatible.

Type Rating is listed at 5 minutes. From the internet: "Duty cycle assigned to the motor is one of the important factors in selection and operation of motors for several reasons, as it depends on how often and how long a motor operates." By comparison, my GE utility cart motor is rated "Continuous". I question if the motor you are looking at is designed for a golf cart with a only a 5 minute rating.

In what application was this motor previously used?

The motor is currently in a 1997 Txt and has been for 3+ years. When o look up the model number on various parts sites it comes up as item 7124- High torque "Beast" motor.

36 volt RPM will be proportionally faster (+/-) at 48 volts.
