Default 48v fuse for reducer and 48v toggle

Looking to see if a 12 volt automotive type fuse. And toggle switch. Will work? With a power reducer. Only thing I've found so far was 12 Volt. Will a 12 Volt 20 amp. Automotive fuse work. On the 48 Volt side. I want to be able to turn off the reducer when not in use. I also need to know. Where I can find a 48 Volt toggle switch or will a 12 Volt toggle switch work if it's rated at enough amps?

What kind of reducer? Does it have a trigger wire that generally goes to the ignition switch? If so you can put a low amp switch inline. No trigger wire= leave it on. Draws almost nothing with no load on it.

12v fuse generally works perfectly on 48v. The fuse volts ratings are for "certified" application. JohnnieB will probably fill in the accurate details. The voltage is related to "how far of a gap it can jump, when rated for spacecraft". That was not a scientific term, but you get the idea. 48v ain't jumping no gaps in a typical fuse application for light wiring.

no it does not have a trigger wire. It is a 4 wire by greenday. Yes Made in china but should work.

CG is right about the voltage rating of fuses being based on the worst case conditions and not a major concern at 48VDC unless you plan to launch the golf cart into orbit.

The actual interrupting voltage rating of ATO (and similar form factors) 12V automotive fuse is typically 32V, but there are some with a 58V rating available, if you can find them. http://www.littelfuse.com/products/f...fuses/997.aspx

As for the toggle switch, use one with a 125VAC rating.

I ordered one for it. I also found a site that states the draw with no load on the 4 wire china reducer is .24 mil volts. Still want to turn it off but it seems to be ok to leave on.

Well, since "draw" is measured in Amps, not volts, I would be very skeptical of their claim.

Installed and tested it, puts out 12.24 volts. Been connected all weekend and is cool to the touch and batteries don't seem affected as of today.
