Default stopping charging cycle?

I played 18 holes of golf this morning, came home and connected the charger.
Will it hurt the batteries if I disconnect the charger before it completes the charging cycle so I can go play another 9 this afternoon?

Thanks

No. This is a good practice called opportunity charging. It is a solid practice when more use is needed and more charge is needed too. Simply plug the cart in and let it complete a charge cycle when you are done using it.

You are welcome. Just last weekend I was spraying weeds from the golf cart. I planned to use the big gasser but it quit, fuel pump or ignition or something. (stupid gas)
I swapped the tank and all to an electric cart and off i went but soon realized I needed more charge so each time I refilled the spray tank the cart was on charge. After several tanks and short charges I actually gained on it some with the pack finishing higher than I started. Gotta love an in dash meter

Good to know!
I have a sprayer that I plan on using with my cart as well. The label on the motor of the sprayer says it pulls 7amps so I should be ok with a 10amp circuit on my voltage reducer.

Maybe... Motors are inductive loads, which produce voltage spikes while running. Those voltage spikes can damage electronics. I would be concerned about running a 70% of capacity inductive load from a low quality chinese voltage reducer. They tend to fail in normal operation, let alone put up with abuse like that.

BobBoyce, your saying Scottyb sells "low quality Chinese voltage reducers"?

I suspect Bob took your statement about connecting to a 10A circuit on your voltage reducer to mean it is an El-cheepo 10A reducer, typically from China. That is how I read it the first time also. (Scotty only sells 25A and 30A reducers.)

If you are connecting it to a 10A fused circuit with a Slo-Blo fuse installed, it'll probably work. Slo-Blo fuses are designed to tolerate motor starts. A regular 10A fuse might pop when your sprayer that draws 7A continuous, starts.

Yea, I took it to mean that he had one of those cheap 10 Amp chinese reducers. Everything else I mentioned still applies, about loading a 10 Amp output to 70% with an inductive load. The low quality reducers are easier to damage, but even a quality reducer can be damage by an inductive load. Putting a suppression diode across the load only eliminates spikes of one polarity. A filter capacitor with a low enough ESR/ESL can soak up the spikes and prevent damage.
