Default EZ-Go shuttle not moving

Ok.... I’m trying to help a buddy trouble shoot his 48v shuttle when he presses the gas pedal he gets no “click” I think it’s the solenoid but just want to make sure. How can we test the solenoid on an ezgo. I don’t think it’s the controller. The cart is all stock and batteries are fully charged.

Thanks
Happy Easter

Need a better description of the cart. There were several 48V "Shuttles" and some had series drives while other had sepex drives.

The solenoid activation circuit in the series drive was external to the controller, while the sepex controller activates the solenoid.

Power to Solenoid coil goes through four switches (three switches if 2001 or earlier), so it could be one of the switches bad or a bad wire/connection. or the solenoid.

Here is the schematic.

Starts at solenoid's battery side large terminal, to MS=2 on F/R assembly, then to keyswitch, then to parking brake switch (not on pre-2002), then to pedal switch and then to solenoid coil.

So Shuttles now come in all three flavors of drives.

Thanks, I didn't know they came with AC drives, but it seems logical they would.

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum and the golf cart world. I recently bought a 2002, 48V, TXT Series Shuttle 6. When I bought it, I replaced the FNR switch because the old one was not making decent contact in reverse.

Replaced the FNR switch and within a couple of days, the cart stops going in reverse. I would put it in Reverse and press the pedal and would hear the click but no movement.

Figured it was a bad solenoid. Ordered an OEM 48V solenoid and swapped it. When I connected all the batteries and turned the key, the Charge Meter started to dim and then completely turned off.

Did some research and figured out it was the Reed Switch. Opened the charge receptacle and bypassed the Reed Switch assembly. Boom, Charge Meter back on, reverse alarm yelling at me, etc. I thought I was good to go.

Still no forward or reverse. Checked batteries, multimeter shows 50+V. Checked the Charge Receptacle, 50+V there. Checked the Solenoid, no voltage. Then I figured out I need to step on the pedal, boom, now getting 50+V; both in Reverse and Forward.

I hear the clicks but no movement. I have the older controller, no lights or codes.

Where do I go from here?
