ScottyB #1 extra amp torque system 1
Again I will prove I am not the sharpest, yet.
The Kit Scotty offers, How would cart run speed-wise with this? Will it handle 600 pounds ok? I would like a small lift, but cannot do both right now. -ScottyB - I am trying to make a good call on parts I do, so no offense, but is there a way to do this type of upgrade without the motor? If so what would I expect? I hate to spend more money and not gain anything noticeable.(2mph?) Have others done this on a 36v series TXT/Medalist that is all stock? What was your performance change? If I can save enough I would like to do the wheels also, but I am already over budget. |

but for starters, with a SERIES cart.....if you want to make if faster, and reliable, you will have to upgrade the controller, solenoid, F&R switch and either make the jump to 48v or the motor, or both. Fore if you leave it at 36v, and no speed motor....the speed will remain the same....IF you make the jump to 48v you will gain 30% more speed and torque without a motor change, with BOTH you will gain that much more. notice my sig. |

Re: ScottyB #1 extra amp torque system 1
Yes, but.
Slow series carts from all manufactures top the list for performance complaints. 36v is an obsolete operating voltage. No company makes a 36v cart today. The best improvement in speed and power would be seen by increasing the operating voltage to 48v. Increasing the operating voltage will induce the stock motor to produce 33% more torque (power) and rpms (speed). The cart will need a 48v speed controller, solenoid, charger, and batteries. Six 8v batteries are the best 48v battery configuration. They fit the 6v battery trays. In the case where new 6v have been installed the battery dealer may exchange for 6/8v or you may add 2/6v to the rear of the cart. Thanks for asking. |

Re: ScottyB #1 extra amp torque system 1
Jumping to 48v was by far the best thing I ever did to my cart (TXT). In my case the torque increase was more noticeable than the top speed but both were substantial and produce a real "seat of the pants" difference.
Your mileage will vary. |

Re: ScottyB #1 extra amp torque system 1
I went from 36v to 48v on my 94 Medalist (series) without upgrading the stock motor and am happy with the outcome.
I did upgrade the controller to an Alltrax SR48400, 400amp solenoid and 2ga wires. My cart did not run when I bought it so I don't have a before speed, on stock wheels and tires top speed is now 16mph, which is fine for me as I primarily use the cart for golf. Scottyb and 99.999999% of everyone else on this forum will steer you in the right direction. |
