Default Need help with 36v to 48v conversion

Hey guys. So I’m knee deep in my little project here and having some issues. My cart is a 97 DCS and I’m converting it to 48v’s. I ordered the necessary goodies from Scotty, great guy BTW and hooked everything up. I then turned the key and got the green light. My batteries are not charged yet but I thought I’d give it some throttle just to see if everything was working. I then heard a pop (I think it came from the motor) and then got the green & red lights from the controller. Short Circuit code. So I turned the key off and then back on and now I get nothing. Did I burn my controller up?? Thank you for any advice.

I’d send pics of my setup but am still trying to figure that out

Check your wiring and then check it again

The only thing I have ever heard go pop in a golf cart was the speed controller.

Okay I’ll look into it. I gotta round up my test light and meter. Mainly concerned about the controller.

You seem to have too many red wire on the solenoid battery cable post.
What yr is the cart ? What is the battery voltage at rest and when you try to go?
Try to insure no small wires are touching the big cables or the big terminal silver base, stuff looks really close.

Can you post the pictures you took before disassembly ?

Here’s what it looked like when I got it. It’s a 97. I’m not sure if it ran in this condition though

When I get bad home I’ll check voltage. The weird thing is i got a solid green light and it actually tried to go. I haven’t charged it yet so I didn’t expect it to do to much but I wanted to see if it worked. And then I heard the pop and got the green red blinking lights. Turned the key off then back on and now nothing. The charger I ordered from ya should be at home by the time I get there. Thanks for looking Scotty.

Oh I see it's a DCS - I was thinking PDS.
Charge the batteries.
Inspect the cables and connections. Make sure there are no bare spots on the cables where they are close to the frame. Make sure the motor and controller connections are tight (not over tight! just not loose)Jack a wheel off the ground when you test it. If it moves F&R then put it on the ground and get it
Years ago I had a cart with a cable short, then found it was fairly common where the cable went around the battery rack.

Charger just came in! I plugged it in, charging looks good, crossed my fingers, turned the key and got the green light!! Man I was worried. Lol. Im gonna leave it to charg per your recommendations Scotty and look for bare wires and such till it’s done charging. Thanks again. It’s great having a source like y’all cause this is way out of my comfort zone.
