Plum Quick upgrade
First, I am not associated with Plum Quick in any way. I just wanted to share my experience if anybody is interested.
I have the D&D motor listed in my sig below. I was running about 20-21 and wanted a little more speed. I talked to Plum Quick and they said for $225 they could get me to 25 with no loss of torque. I went for it. When I first tried out the upgraded motor I got 23. A little disappointed. Next day after recharge I got 24-25. A little happier. Next day with my son in the cart we hit 26 easily and 28 on a very slight down hill. Well worth my money! Plum Quick folks had told me it would take a few runs to "seat the brushes". Can't wait to try it out again. |

Re: Plum Quick upgrade
That's good to hear. From my understanding some of their custom motors are based off of D&D cases.

Re: Plum Quick upgrade
What do they do to the motor to increase the power? Does it sacrifice longevity? I understand there's a give & take when looking for more performance.

Re: Plum Quick upgrade
Limit your downhill speeds, or you will be shopping for a motor and maybe controller.
This pic could easily be you next. |

2 mph is not worth a $500 motor to me

Increasing the armature bar length (physically longer motor) will have the same effect as adding to the field but l believe will result in less of an RPM loss combine that with reducing the field should result in increased speed with no less torque loss. |

Re: Plum Quick upgrade
Not hijacking, but does the Alltrax SR have the ability to limit (induce braking) downhill speed using a setting in the controller? I know it has that feature if you hit reverse, but was hoping for something programmable, for less experienced drivers.

You can limit the reverse speed (or speed whenever the proper wire has pack voltage on it) to a percentage of the forward speed on level ground or uphill, but not downhill. Basically, the slower speed reverse is simply the throttle position being adjusted to a lower setting by the controller. Sepex motors that have speed senors and are capable of producing regen braking can use regen braking to limit the motor RPM to a pre-selected value or a user programmable value if the controller is user programmable, like the XCT. |
