You need a charger to get the battery pack up so the cart charger will charge them. Or if you have some one with another cart. With the same volts. Pull it up next to your cart and put some jumper cables on the two carts, so your batteries will see 48v so your cart charger will start charging

It's probably a 2 amp trickle charger. No it will not harm your 8 volt batteries, IF you don't let the 12 volt charger charge them to long. You would have to keep an eye on them while charging. Once you get all 6 - 8 volt batteries above 8 volts then the cart charger will come on. It's a lot easier with another 48 volt cart it takes 5 minutes and your cart will be charging. With the 12 volt charger you will have to watch the batteries while charging for hours .

What’s the point of a charger that doesn’t charge when batteries are too low? You have to get a charger to charger the batteries enough for your main charger to charge?!?

Wha wha what??

.....and I’m frustrated

Lol - just bought the cart used, wasn’t me bro..

My quick charge is on my other cart but it’s at a shop right now, that would kick right on , I just don’t understand the concept of not charging unless at the right voltage to do so.

LOL Got ya. I though it was your white cart you have had. I see whats wrong now. Some one just explained in a thread why the new chargers wont come on if the pack is to low, just the other day. But I can't remember why. Or what they said.

Lawsuits a-plenty if a charger shipped from an OEM that would charge a 36v or 24v pack at 48v levels and catch someone's garage on fire. (This is what your really really low pack looks like to a 48v charger)
Thank your local lawyer!

I just went through something similar. I ended up disconnecting my 36v pack into individual batteries and charging for an hour or so each to get the pack up high enough for the automatic to kick on. You might want to consider getting a decent automotive charger with switchable voltage. Never know when it might come in handy.
