Default RXV Accelerator Return Spring

A friend of mine has a 2014 RXV that every time the key is turned to off he has to manually pull back on the accelerator pedal before turning the key back on. I took out the floor mat and cleaned around the assembly, but looks to me like the big spring is a bit weak and doesn't return the pedal far enough. Any advice on how to correct that?

Most fleet carts have a extra spring , you may find the little clevis where it attached about halfway up the pedal.

Take the pedal assembly out, clean it thoroughly, and lubricate the pivot pin with a lightweight gun oil (not WD-40). Then cut a couple of pieces of tubing that will fit over the ends of the spring. Carefully remove the rubber bumper from under the one end of the spring to allow it to rotate enough to get a piece of tubing over the tight end of the spring. Then put the other piece of tubing over the other end, if needed. Then push the rubber bumper back in place and put everything back together. Sometimes only one end needs to be bushed to tighten it up, sometimes both are required. Good Luck!

Bob, worked like a champ! Lubricated the spring and just shimmed one end with a piece of rubber hose. I didn't even have to take the assembly out to get to it! Thanks!!
