2004 ezgo pds intermittently cuts out under full throttle

My ezgo 36 volt electric cart used to cut out, activate the electronic brake and start beeping once or twice during a round of golf. If you let off the accelerator and then depressed it right away it returns to normal. This year I installed new batteries and it is now doing it 10 to 20 time in a round of golf. Probably not related to the new batteries. The cart has a steep hill speed chip in it other than that it is totally stock. Any suggestions on what the issue is?

Someone must know how to troubleshoot this issue.

Put your cart in the diagnostic mode and see what
what fault it beeps out. Report back and tell us the results.

You also might check for intermittent connections in wiring to the F/R switch and keyswitch, and the switches themselves. They are 14 years old and may be in less than perfect health.

If you move the F/R switch to neutral or the the opposite direction, or turn off the key, while the cart is moving, the controller goes into an emergency stop mode with heavy regen barking and rapid beeping.

How do I do these diagnostic checks? I can get into the diagnostic mode to check which speed chip is installed (I get the 2 beeps for the steep hill chip) how do the rest of the checks as per the chart you attached?

You put it in the diagnostic mode by reading at the bottom of the label. It will sound out a beep code or codes as you drive and that tells you what is wrong.

Ok. I put it in the diagnostic mode and took it for a drive. When it acts up the cart will come to a stop with the motor brake and give out 4 beeps followed by 3 beeps. If I let off the pedal and hit it again as soon as the first indication of an issue the cart takes right off with no beeps or other issues. I assume this would be a solenoid drop out as per the troubleshooting label. I checked the wiring right at the solenoid and it’s all nice and clean and tight. Is the solenoid in need of replacement or could it be something else?

If wiring all good replace the solenoid.

sorry to revive old thread but did a new solenoid fix this issue????
