Default Stickies? 1st cart, learning does and dont's, etc

Can I leave the ignition in the on position if it's in neutral and or Forward? The pedal triggers the solenoid (on switch) as long as my light switch is off it should be okay right? I ask bc my ignition went bad and I bypassed the two wire ignition w a jumper wire w 2 spades to see if that was the problem after I saw no continuity in the on position . Can I leave it connected for my wife until Amazon delivers the new ignition?

What about how the analog empty/full meter where is 50% discharged? Half of the green, or at the red? What does red denote...10%, 25%? I want to add a dot on the Guage where you absolutely should not drive past and where is a good level to charge it back up so I know we know when to stop driving/ and when to turn back.

Where can I learn more generic info? I don't have a manual

1990 Marathon 36v, w/ 6 New batteries.

I don't have an electric cart, but you need a digital volt meter to know exactly what your voltage is. The analog ones tell you almost nothing...

As Dave in VA already mentioned, you really need a digital volt meter to tell what's truly going on. Most of the dial or even bar graph style gauges are incredibly inaccurate, some even reset what they consider "full charge" depending on charge cycles. This is one example of what you want, but there are others similar:

All that key switch does is close the connection between the neutral lockout microswitch and battery B+ on Marathons. Leaving it on will NOT drain batteries.
