They didn't, sadly. Not even on TXT 48s. The new ones are just larger, beefier versions of the same crap. I await the era when the OEMs realize we have no more room in landfills for disposable garbage and return back to Ferro Resonant chargers that never fail.

I was thinking at some point they switched to the black and yellow QUIQ. Many of the RXV's I have bought/seen came with QUIQ, but maybe those were just replacements

The only cars I've seen with Quiq's are Bad Boy Buggies and Ruff n Tuff and other 'side by side' type of electric golf cars.

Sometimes a customer puts the end from another (usually bad) charger on a Quiq and uses it like a normal charger, usually leaving it under the seat (where it then dies from water intrusion)

The newer cars use what's called the SC-48, which is just a QE by another name.

I just picked up a 2013 txt. It came with a new yellow QuiQ charger.

Many fleets & courses check the box for the better QuiQ charger from the assembly line. I have opened the SC-48, and I can confirm that it is new lipstick on an old pig.

Too bad we didn't get so lucky :(

Although I haven't seen as much luck with the Quiq's any more than the QEs. We got an equal sized mountain of failed units for both. In fact, the last dead battery special (had a Quiq but not mounted, just used a TXT 48 DC end on one that seemed scavenged out of a Ruff n Tuff to me) had a Quiq that was flashing a pattern of some sort from the 'yellow triangle with exclamation point' light.

True the ferroresonant transformer type chargers of yesteryear were very reliable and 100% repairable if they did fail, but they had some issues.

Setting aside they are heavy, noisy, bulky and inefficient, they don't fully charge the batteries because they shut off at a predetermined voltage rather than when the on-charge voltage stops climbing.

Technically, a lead-acid battery isn't fully charged until the specific gravity of the electrolyte ceases to increase while a charging current is passing through it. The on-charge voltage tracks the SG of the electrolyte, so it can be inferred that the battery isn't charged until the on-charge voltage ceases to increase. Many modern chargers use dV/dT (change in Voltage over change in Time) technology to terminate the charge, so they more fully charge the batteries.

Personally, I believe the best chargers out there are a hybrid of old and new technology. They have a transformer (straight step down rather than the ferroresonant type) and use dV/dT to terminate the charge. plus float charging to keep batteries charged when cart isn't being used daily.

For me the best chargers are also repairable. Not disposable. Not sure if DPIs are repairable (never seen one personally--we use Pro Charging Systems ones that advertise they're repairable that are similar in that they also have a transformer) But our biggest issue is we are stuck sending rebuilt QEs to folks just because they have no concept of how much they pay over time repeatedly replacing failed QEs, they're simply scared off by the $400 price tag of the better charger. They think paying $150 every three years or so is better. They're only seeing the present!

Just can't win with customers sometimes. Since that's the issue we can't just toss out the QEs (or send 'em back to EZGO) and sell our cars with better chargers. Customers will freak out even if a car they expect to go for $5000 ends up being $5400 without them expecting a back seat or light kit to justify the price.

We deal with idiots here!

DPIs are repairable. I lost a board due to lightening, which can also occur in any "automatic' charger. The replacement board went out within the warranty period, so it was free. It could have been due to lightening, but nothing else died in our house.
