98 EZ-GO Rear End Differential Issues
Electric motor makes noise and spins but, the cart won’t move.
It made a bad sound before this happened almost like a grinding or slipping sound. How do I diagnose this? |

Sounds like a stripped hub. Does the nut spin on the driver or passenger side we you try to accelerate?

Re: 98 EZ-GO Rear End Differential Issues
You sir have stripped hubs. Common problem and easy fix. Get the ausco two piece hub and you won’t have anymore issues

I agree with the ausco statement but they are getting tough to find.

Re: 98 EZ-GO Rear End Differential Issues
Thanks for the advice. I will order a new hub for the driver side.
How do you typically hold the hub when you torque the nut? |

The hub won’t spin if the spline isn’t stripped and the brake is locked. I usually just make sure the hub is all the way in and then lock the brake. I use an impact wrench for the castellated nut. Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |

Re: 98 EZ-GO Rear End Differential Issues
Cart started making a new noise.
I had previously resolved the issue with the brake hub and spline. Carts been going strong all last season. A few days ago I noticed this sound. (See video) I would describe it as a creaking/grinding metallic sound. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lN9...w?usp=drivesdk The cart only makes the sound went off power and coasting. The sound is not present when the rear axle is on jackstands without load. |
