Default 500 amp Curtis controller programing

I have a hand held Curtis programer model 1307-1101. I have a gut feeling that the Curtis controller that I bought last fall is set as default for 48 volts, my cart is 36 volts. So when I put it on the controller we got a cannot communicate, and then when we asked for more information it gave us a program 10 code. Can anybody tell me what this means?
Thanks

The -1101 is the lowest level programmer, and is really just a error code reader. Likely would not allow you to change anything even if it did connect. Likely connection problem is that super old programmer requires a 5v bus, the newer controllers use a 3.3v bus. I'm not 100% sure on this.

We need to know the model number of the controller. If the controller has a programmer receptacle, it should provide enough voltage (typically 15 volts) to operate the programmer. If the programmer can't communicate, there may be a bad connection or a logic problem with the controller. I don't understand if the programmer can't communicate how you can ask for more information.

The -1101 signifies that it is a user level handset, the lowest access level possible. The 1307 is a specific model of Curtis handset, designed to communicate with a specific subset of Curtis controllers, the 1223/33, 1225/35, and 1227/37 Multi-Mode controllers used for forklifts. All of its diagnostics and menus are centered on that subset of controllers.

It is not compatible with newer models from what I was able to dig up in my Curtis archives.

The rental handsets require a deposit equal to or exceeding the purchase cost of the handset, which gets refunded when you return the handset. You might be better off just buying a 1313-4401 handset, the latest model.

As I mentioned, the 1313-4401 handset, via eBay.

Or if you prefer a lower cost alternative, the 1314-4402 Curtis programming software and a FTDI USB to TTL Serial adapter cable. You can find the software for free download on the internet, and the cable can be ordered from Mouser Electronics for about $25 plus about $10 for the connectors and terminals to adapt it to connect to your carts controller programming port. If you want to read more about this option, read the following thread, especially the last 30 or so pages...
