98 EZ-GO No Power
Hey guy's I'm new to this forum and it seems like you guy's could be really helpfull so I'll give this a try. I just bought what I believe is a 98 ez-go. Its 36v. It has no power and I know the solenoid is not clicking on. If i jump one of the small wires to power the solenoid does come on but the cart still has a major lack of power(which i think is batteries). I believe the solenoid is good but I think that whatever controls it is not working. It is controlled by a micro switch? How can I test these. Any help would be greatly apprecciated. Thanks!

Re: 98 EZ-GO No Power
Hello stang8989 and Welcome to the forum.
So we can better assist, locate the serial and ID plate and give us the numbers on it. If it is a 98, the plate will be in the left side of the passenger side glove box. |

While you're at it, let rusty know if there is a toggle switch on the controller cover.

Re: 98 EZ-GO No Power
Ok. I will check the numbers when I get home from work. I do know the ID plate is in the left side of the passengers glove box and there wasn't a toggle switch on the controller cover. ( that is the cover that covered the solenoid and black box right?)

Re: 98 EZ-GO No Power
Well, I'm not sure. I think you have an extra digit in the mfr number. Pretty sure you have a 1995. Specifically, if the mfr number is J0295 then your cart was born on April 02,1995. If mfr number is J0995 then April 09, 1995.
Only your tag knows for sure. Since we think it is a 1995 model, then you probably have a Medalist. Check the continuity of the micro switches. Either they work or they don't. Make sure micro switch arms are not bent or broken. What is your battery voltage? Pack and individual. How old are the batteries? Cables/connections clean and tight? Key switch wiring OK? Do you have a wiring diagram? |

Re: 98 EZ-GO No Power
I rechecked the plate numbers and you were right! The number is J0295. I will check the continuity of the micro switches this evening. I checked the battery voltage of the batteries as a pack the other day and it was 36.0v. From what I've read on here I believe that is a empty pack. The connections are clean and tight now. The key switch wiring is not correct. They have a green wire under the seat wired together with a butt splice and whether the key is turned on or off the cart is always on. I don't have a wiring diagram, but since we know it is a 95 that will help me find the correct diagram. Thanks again for all your help!!!

Re: 98 EZ-GO No Power
The Solenoid and Controler should be on the passenger side of the cart just under where the passenger sits.
Also, it is probably a metal body? |

Re: 98 EZ-GO No Power
I checked both of the micro switches last night and they are good. The battery pack is on charge for about 12 hours and I'm going to check it at lunch. The two things I can't figure out are the ignition switch and the solenoid, I think the two problems may be related. The ignition switch doesn't do anything. Even if it is off, you can put the cart in reverse and the beep still sounds. But the cart will not go and the solenoid will not kick in anytime. What actually controls the solenoid and does anybody have an ignition switch diagram? Thanks in advance!
