Default Older EZ Go issues.

Hey gang. My father in law has an older EZ Go golf cart. We're not sure what year or model it is. But at times when you push the rocker switch to forward it will barely move, sometimes when you push it it will not move at all. Then at times it will go normal /fast. It's a 36v cart and we just installed new batteries this weekend. Any thoughts on what could cause this?

Another bit of information. It does have a run/tow switch.

2001 either DCS or PDS cart. Look at end of the motor cap on the drivers side and see if there is a grey wire coming out of the end. If no, DCS, yes PDS.

It is a PDS.

All DCS and early 2000 PDS had F/R selector by the driver's knee.

What is the battery pack voltage?
(Ought to be 38.2V about 12 hours after charger shuts off.)

What charger is being used?

It's a stock Powerwise charger. Not sure of the pack voltage but we just put the batteries in this weekend. Like if you stop and flip the switch to reverse then back to forward it may go slow, it may go fast or it may not move at all. But the times that it goes normal/fast it has plenty of speed and torque.

Measure the battery pack voltage with a handheld DMM. (Digital multi-meter)

Did you charge the new batteries before use?
Did you put the Run/Tow switch in Tow before R&R the batteries?

What Make/Model batteries did you install?

-------------
Intermittently running normal and then running slow is a symptom of uncharged batteries and several other possibilities.

You can download the Owner, Parts and Service manuals for your cart here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html
They are the first three pdf files.

Thanks, to me it really doesn't seem like a battery voltage issue. When you hit the switch and it decides to be in slow mode, you can flip the switch back and forth (forward to reverse and back) and it will go like normal with plenty of speed and torque. Same thing when it decides to not move at all.

But I have limited knowledge and I know that you know more than I do.
