Speed sensor
Purchased what I had thought was a direct replacement for my 2006 ezgo txt pds. What got sent to me only has about a 10 inch
cable. The original is 3' I'm guessing. Is it possible to splice the new one onto the old cable? Where I live the closest dealer is 2 hours away. |

Re: Speed sensor
I can't really answer your question as I am not familiar with your cart but you post is kind of confusing.
Did you mean the new one they sent you was 10'' long? I'm sure one of the experienced guys will be able to help you out. |

Re: Speed sensor
If you are needing to splice the cables, go ahead. But unplug it from the controller before modifying. There will be 3 wires, black, red, and one other color (blue or green). Red to red, black to black, the other pair together.

Re: Speed sensor
The harness you got may be for the TXT48. They have a short plug in section near the motor.

Re: Speed sensor
That's exactly what its shows up as online. Is it possible to use this sensor on my 2006 txt pds 36v if I splice it?

Re: Speed sensor
I don't see why not if it has the right magnet count for your motor. The stock magnet count for PDS and TXT48 is 8

Re: Speed sensor
And all the sensors on DC golf cart motors work the same, apply 5v to the red and black wires, get a 5v square wave "pulse" from the third wire relative to the motor rpm.

Re: Speed sensor
What kind of damage would occur if I bypassed the speed sensor permanently?

Re: Speed sensor
No damage, but the cart will have severely reduced performance.
See 1-3 error code on attached PDS label. |
