Default 2009 Ezgo RXV wont move.

I have 2009 Ezgo Rxv 48 volt. Due to my own fault while wiring up a radio I fried the Dahaner controller and a shop installed a Curtis 1206AC5211 conversion in but unit still wont move. The motor brake will disengage now in Tow mode. I replaced the Accelerator Rotary Position Sensor but no luck. Short of replacing the motor is there anything else i can or should try? Thank you for any assistance. Gerald

I bet your motor is just fine. Several things to look at.

I did the Danaher to Curtis last years my 2010 last year.. The Curtis disliked many things that the Danaher ignored.

In addition to the accelerator encoder, look at the accelerator and brake switches. I had a brake switch that when closed still had about 7 ohms of resistance. Changing it out for a new one in spec, with less than one ohm of resistance, solved the problem.

You may just want to go ahead and replace the brake encoder also.

Secondly, look at your wiring harness and verify that there isn’t any excessive corrosion. I was having trouble with the cart failing the twist test after converting to Curtis. Repairing the wiring to the motor brake solved that problem.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I hope they noticed there are two white wires in the harness and the one you want to splice into is the one that runs from the motor brake to the front of the cart. Hopefully they didn’t splice into the one that runs from the back of the cart, to the connector. If so they could have damaged your new controller. I made that mistake.

A now refer to it as my 4 digit screw up.

Don’t mean to sound negative. My cart now runs great. I just learned a lot from one mistake.

i looked at the wiring and they spiced the white wire to a gray wire coming out of the wiring harness. It originally went to the resistor on the back of the Dahaner Controller.

Bob Boyce, please chime in here.

Ok it’s possible that the wire could be grey in the harness.

Step 27 of the conversion reads:

“Cut the light color wire (grey or white) from the motor brake and splice both ends of the cut wire together with the white wire from the adapter harness with splice supplied in kit.”

So you should have 3 wires coming together the wire from the motor brake to the brake pedal is the wire to tap into, and the new wire pulls the status of the brake circuit into the controller.

If it’s wired into the resistor wire, that is incorrect.

Question for forum moderators. Can I scan and upload EZGO’s instruction sheet for doing the conversion?

ghemmer chase down that grey wire and see if it doesn't go to the motor brake.

They plugged into the wrong one. The white wire from the kit needs to be spliced into the wire that runs from the motor brake to the front of the cart.
