Default Motor Spinning Freely, Broken Gears?

Out cruising the cart with the family tonight and a nice ride turned bad quick. I had the cart parked with my foot on the parking brake. For some reason the wife decided to hit the gas while my foot was holding down the parking brake. Heard an odd noise, then no movement. I released brake and tried accelerating again and no movement. Sounds like the motor is just spinning freely. My thought is the gears exploded? Added 2 videos of the sound it's currently making.
Cart is an 02 48v Series TXT

Probably just a bad brake drum, it's really common. It was just about to go, pushing the gas and brake at the same time sealed the deal.

[emoji1303] Stripped hub, like CG said. Likely passenger side.

Exactly what they^^said but to be on the safe side I would replace the axle along with the brake hub.

I have replaced countless stripped hubs and never had to replace an axle because of a hub. The hubs are soft metal to avoid damaging the axle.

Thanks all. Plan is to take it apart this weekend. Will be stoked if it’s only the hubs.

I have had to do several axles because of this, but I would say it's been about 15:1 ratio of axles that were reusable per one that was not. Also, the drum wasn't "designed to spare the axle shaft", it's just a cheap iron part matched up against a hardened steel part.

Was able to remove the hubs tonight. Passenger side was stripped with groves smooth’d Over. Driver side appeared fine. Groves on hub looked decent, nothing like passenger side. Would one side stripped cause the cart not to move at all?

I did lightly press accelerator with no hubs and both axels move as they should with no noises.

Yes. Like I mentioned the passenger side is usually the culprit. Replace the hub and you’ll be good to go! [emoji1303]

Looks like I'll be doing the Ausco HD hubs and since I need brakes why not convert it to disc brakes. I'm puzzled on what kit though PK2017 or PK1998? I'm pretty sure I have spline axels with no key?
