Default Question with "Run Tow/Maintenance Switch

Hello and thanks for the add! New owner here, just bought a non-running 04 TXT. Got it home, batteries and cables were absolute junk and in need of help, so I just picked up and installed new US 2200 6V batteries. Everything turned on, so as excited as I was along with my 6 yr old, we slapped the seat on, threw it in reverse and took a spin around the cul-de-sac. Got home, flipped the seat up, checked everything out one more time and noticed that the Run Tow/Maintenance switch was never moved to the Run position. Now when I switched it back over to Run, the cart doesn't move at all. Switch back over to Tow and it responds. Is there a way to reset the controller or did I jack something up. I apologize if this was already covered in another thread, I tried to search but not having alot of luck. Thanks!

The switch is probably turned around backwards inside the cover. I’d use it and enjoy it.

And you got lucky. Any wiring should be done with the switch in the Tow mode so no power to the controller. If you flip to run in its current configuration when you switch it to reverse do you get a buzzer? If so you have a wiring issue. And all from the big town of Medina

Before I removed anything at all, I had placed the switch in the Tow position. When I installed the last battery and made all my connections I did receive a nice little spark, but after completing all the connections I figured it was normal. Is the cart supposed to be functional in that Tow position or doesn't it slightly act as a "kill" switch so to speak.

No buzzer, nothing at all. That's what has me worried if I did something. I didn't know if there were a way to check wiring to see if something were turned at o e point in time.

A disconnected reverse buzzer is common.

The run/Tow switch in that cart is connected directly to the front of the controller so unlikely it is wired wrong. For your own learning flip the switch to run in your case and pull the controller cover. Unplug the 4 pin plug from the front of the controller and get out your volt ohm meter. In true run wires red/white and orange/red should have continuity and wires red and red/yellow should also. In tow none should. Do this and orient your switch and put it back together.

You said no reverse buzzer when put in run.

Is there a reverse buzzer when put in tow?

If you have reverse buzzer in tow and nothing in run, then the switch is backwards. no big deal. The fact that you drove it means you got lucky and nothing is broken. All you need to do is:

Correct the orientation on the Run Tow switch and enjoy.

If it's no buzzer regardless, you still likely have the label backwards because in Tow mode the cart should do nothing. Full kill. If that's the situation then:

Correct the orientation on the Run Tow switch and enjoy...

Yes that's correct.....when in the Tow position, I get full function, reverse beep or buzzer, forward and reverse with no problems at all. When switched to Run, I get nothing, no beeps it buzzers, etc.

2 options,
1. pull the cover and spin the switch 180 and put the cover back on
2. Duct tape on the cover and relabel the switch.
