Default 2005 txt 48v shuttle Curtis 1264-5407 controller

Is there a way to take off the automatic braking on this controller.

I don't know if the regen braking can be completely turned off, but it might be set to a lesser amount with a hand held programmer.

Ask your EZGO dealer if they have a programmer for a 1264 controller.

The Regen is quite high on those. And I do believe it could be turned way down with a handheld programmer. Those carts were originally programmed to be slow, tame, and idiot-proof.

A majority of 1264's settings are above OEM level, so available handsets cant adjust it. You could upgrade it to a 1268 masterdrive which has pretty much identical pinout and regen can be turned so low its practically off. Those settings are typically OEM or Dealer depending on the model.

I guess I always forget that the 3 programmers I regularly use are level 4 "-4401" type

Well, if you were at the dealership where I work, I would turn it down for you. Some places aren't into the programming stuff, or don't have high enough level programmer to do it so they just say "can't be done". We don't get our programmers from Ezgo, or they wouldn't be level 4.

Id like to ask you a couple questions about the curtis 1264-5407. I understand its a hard to find controller. Do you recommend rebuilding it, or replacing it with a different controller and if so which one ? Any recommendations?

Replace it with an Alltrax XCT48400-1268/1264 (or larger) controller.

It is user programmable via a USB-A to USB-B cable (aka printer cable) connected to a laptop or similar device. Programming software (Toolkit) is free and is downloadable on the Alltrax website.

Also, by adding a module, it can be programmed for more than one different user and the different users can be selected by a switch.
