EZGO TXT ID help - tag missing
BGW-
It's been a while since I've been on here, got rid of my last cart back in 2010, but trying to get back into it now. I went electric this time and need help IDing my new ride. Like the title says, the serial number tag is gone, so I need your help. I know the cart is a TXT, I just need to verify the drive system. I was told it was a 36v. Please ignore the car batteries in the tray, that's from the old owner who rigged up batteries so his kids could mess with it. Also, look at the pic of the solenoid, there is a blue and green wire twisted together. The cart doesn't have a key/ ignition, so I'm thinking this was their by-pass. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, anxious to get this one back running. CDR D |

Re: EZGO TXT ID help - tag missing
It's a series cart 1996 or newer. Look where the steering column is bolted to the floor. If 3 bolts its 96-early 2001. If 4 bolts its 2001.5 or newer but likely not newer than 08 or 09. The series carts where pretty much all the same electrically and all standard golf models were 36v. The steering was changed in mid 2001 but only really important to you if you need to repair the steering or install a lift.

Re: EZGO TXT ID help - tag missing
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I have a 3 bolt column, so 96-2001.5 it is. And I basically got it for free, traded an RC car for it, LOL!! It runs and drives, just needs fresh batteries. I can work with ugly, lol!! Our plan is to lift it and customize it, so this info helps. Any idea about the blue and green wires twisted together?

Re: EZGO TXT ID help - tag missing
Are you referring to the wires twisted together and connected to the microswitch on the FNR switch? I have a 2000 TXT that has the same parts I can see in your picture, but I don't have any pictures on my phone clearly showing that part that I can check at the moment.
I imagine that might just be someone's poor attempt at extending some wires that had broken. |

Re: EZGO TXT ID help - tag missing
Correct, that's what I'm referring to. I don't think they were trying to extend anything, more like by-pass something, that's why I'm not sure. Like I said, mine doesn't have the ignition/ key anymore, so not sure what they did. If you get a chance and can get pics of yours, I'd appreciate so I know what I need to do with them. Thank you.

Re: EZGO TXT ID help - tag missing
OK, the blue wire on my FNR comes from the key switch. According to the wiring diagram, the key switch has a green wire coming into it from the ITS and a blue wire going out to the microswitch on the FNR (where yours is connected).
As you said, assuming the green wire in the picture is going to the pedal box, this is just a bypass of the key switch by tying the 2 wires together. |

You got some serious work to do to the battery tray, or the batteries will fall right through that on the first bump.

Find every zerk fitting and grease it. Change rear end oil. Both are overdue.
