Default Textron charger

I have a 36 volt charger that one of the diodes tests bad. The diode seems to be pressed in the plate can I use a stud type diode in its place in the hole under it?

I would think you could. You need to get one that points the right way current wise and I am not smart enough to tell you how to do that..

Replace both diodes when one goes bad.

A 1N1184 will work. (35A/100V minimum)

Need cathode connected to stud. (Stud diodes with an R suffix have anode connected to stud)

Unless they are too big for the stud's diameter, the already existing holes will work. Or you can drill the correct sized holes anywhere on the heatsink the wires from the transformer will reach.
