Default EZGO 36-Volt PDS Cart Noise

OK when coasting you can hear a noise coming from the rear drive train area. Not exactly a Grinding sound more like a Ratchet sound which slows as speeds bleeds off. Just before you stop is more of a Squeak-Squeak.

No noise or anything unusual accelerating or cruising, just coasting with or without braking. Nothing special about the cart, factory 2006 PDS Freedom configured for golf.

That sounds like the castle nuts on the hubs may need to be tightened. Remove the cotter pins, and torque the castle nuts tighter, aligning the holes so you can put the cotter pins back. Then test drive it to see if the squeek went away.

THX and I am optimistic you are correct. Rode it this morning and listened carefully. Noise appears to be coming from the drivers side rear wheel area best I can tell.

Does not sound like a gear grinding. More like a Ratchet or Roulette Wheel. Remember when you were a kid and put a playing card on your bicycle wheel spokes? Sounds kind of like that. As the cart slows, so does the ratchet sound, and just as you roll to a stop, it ends with a squeak-squeak.

The sealed axle bearing may be at the end of it's useful life. If all else fails change them both.

THX and will do. Dumb question. If it is a bearing, would it not make noise while accelerating and cruising around? Only does it coasting and braking.
