Default 2006 Ezgo Pds new batteries

Never saw cart run. I bought with dead batteries

New batteries installed

No clicking solenoid. No reverse beep.

Checking the voltage at key. I have a negative full battery load. I’m assuming this should positive. But I can only get a reading with volt meter on positive battery.

Help please.

Unless otherwise stipulated, all voltage measurements are made with DVM's negative test lead attached to battery pack's main negative terminal (B-).

What is the voltage you get between the battery pack's main positive and main negative terminals? Ought to be +38.2V or more, if fully charged.

The blue wire with the insulated ring terminal on the solenoid's passenger side small terminal has been added. Where does the other end go to?

The first place to look for the voltage that goes to the keyswitch is J1 Pin-4, which is fed either by the reed switch in the charger port or the reed switch bypass.

Next it goes through the Run/Tow switch.
Then through the F/R switch.
And then to the keyswitch.

Here are a couple images that may help.
First is a schematic with the solenoid activation circuit highlighted. (All the wires highlighted in red, have to have full battery pack voltage on them to get B+ on the yellow wire on the solenoid's small terminals.

The second shows how B+ to the solenoid coil passes through the controller.

The blue wire is attached to nothing. Dead end wire.

Key switch to negative lead battery is 0

Key switch to positive lead battery is 37.8v

Battery pack is 38.1v

J1 pin 4 is 37.8v from pin to positive lead battery. Isn’t this backwards?

Yes.

Are the batteries connect correctly?

Sure looks right.

Is there any chance the test leads on your DVM are plugged in to the wrong holes? (I had that happen to me - more correctly a co-worker swapped them while I wasn't looking. Drove me crazy for a few minutes. )

Of course, it is possible the batteries have been charged with a reversed polarity. However the black and white cable from the charge port are landed correctly, white on main positive terminal.

Have you check for correct polarity on the individual batteries?

Polarity correct

Confused on dmv statement. The only way to get a charge at the key switch is to have is connected to positive lead battery

I woukd think this means negative charge is there.

Perhaps there is a breakdown in communications between us.

Please post picture(s) showing voltage reading on the the voltmeter display, both test leads and the test points they are connected to.

Most meters will give a reading even if the test lead polarity is reversed. The reading will then show -37.4 v

Yes I have voltmeter connected to positive battery the other in the key switch. That on the only way I can get voltage reading. Negative battery to key switch nothing.

I’m
Thinking somehow controller is putting negative voltage out to key.

I also have negative voltage on both small bolts of the solenoid.
