Default The purpose of the PowerWise QE & SC-48

After the reliability of the PowerWise and PowerWise 2, and being repairable, as well as having the umpteenth angry customer who had his or her QE fail or shoot sparks or trip their breakers roll in today, I must wonder.

WHAT IS THE FREAKING POINT OF THE QE AND SC-48??????

Is it to line EZGOs pockets? Our shelves are full of dead QEs as it is and spilling over. You literally cannot reason with customers and sell them a far better Eagle or DPI charger that you pay for ONCE because their attention span only sees the present, aka the $130 price over the $400 price. They will be replacing the new QE in a few months, perhaps a couple years later, but they do not understand that.

With a failure rate so darned high, why even go this route? Yamaha is doing the same thing too. Eventually we are going to run out of room for more and more e-waste. If there is a purpose other than making $$$ for the manufacturer and scamming the customer with this throwaway junk, I would sure love to know.

Mine is working fine, and if you buy a new one there is a warranty so you are covered. I see all chargers failing no matter who makes them. Maybe the aftermarket ones are better but the qe have been around for a long time and they are more of them out there than the dpi I would believe simply because ezgo shipped them with the carts. Hell I ever have 12v chargers fail....wish someone made one that would not fail.

making stuff where the only fix is toss it and buy a new one is not a policy i understand at all. It does not help build loyal customer base or help the planet at all.

The original chargers, the PowerWise and PowerWise 2 were darned reliable, and could be fixed for chump change, and were not toss out chargers.

The QE is weak and fails often and that has not changed even now. The last two we had come back were rebuilts and one would shoot sparks as soon as you plugged it into a cart, the other tripped the circuit breaker instantly after you plugged the AC cord in.

The bean counters are happy, it saved Ezgo a couple of bucks a car. And we order our Yamahas from the assembly line with DPI chargers, it costs us a couple more bucks a car, but it's not a pos.

I tried to reason with the boss about ordering fleets with DPI or Eagle chargers but she said she'd have to add that to the price and with the cheapskates around here that wasn't something she was willing to risk.

I'm still happy i got an OEM programmer though....
