Take off by itself
I have a 2005 ezgo that will be sitting still with the key on in forward or reverse and will suddenly take off at full throttle, any suggestions?

Re: Take off by itself
Put in neutral park it and apply brake. Turn key to off and remove key from cart. Possibly water in pedal box or something. This is a dangerous problem to trouble shoot. Put cart on Jack Stands if you are going to trouble shoot.

Re: Take off by itself
Problem is several different employee's drive the cart so l can't rely on them to turn the key off and put in neutral every time. Definitely needs a fix I've checked everything from the pedal box to the controller everything is fine.by the way it doesn't do it only once in awhile

Re: Take off by itself
Test the ITS and per the procedures in this section's stickies. Inspect the harness from the ITS for damage. As a preventative measure replace the harness plug between the ITS and the speed controller with soldered connections. This repair is a cheap fix and is a known trouble spot.

Re: Take off by itself
Also note that the solenoid must CLOSE for the controller to power the motor. This is only suppose to happen when the pedal is depressed. So either the cart is wired incorrectly (power through the keyswitch to the pedal box ms constantly) and/or the pedal box micro switch has failed closed. In which case the solenoid coil will burn out.
Check to see if you have 36v present across the solenoid small terminals constantly and remedy this situation if yes. |

Re: Take off by itself
I don't see how either would cause your problem.

Re: Take off by itself
I had a Wide Open Throttle issued which was caused by water entry into my controller ... did your controller get wet at any time?
See the attached link that describes the problem that I had to see if there are any similarities. You might also search "WOT" or "Wide Open Throttle" to help you troubleshoot the problem. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-throttle.html Regards, 3CW |
