1995 Ezgo
This is my first post. I have a 1995 Ezgo 36 volt cart that stopped working. The solenoid clicks when pedal is pressed. The forward reverse switch only has two micro switches. No large wiring attached. I checked the micro switches for continuity and all is good. Where to check next? Thanks,

It’s probably a DCS. There are only two microswitches on the FNR, which like like a silver disc. Unfortunately the controllers had a pretty high failure rate for the DCS.

Re: 1995 Ezgo
Sounds like you have a 95 TXT-DCS (sepex drive). If so, there ought to be a Run/Tow switch on the controller cover.
In any case, the solenoid clicks when the pedal is pushed, so the problem is in the high current circuit. Connect your DVM between the controller's B- and M- terminals. With pedal pushed just far enough to make solenoid click, you ought to measure full battery pack voltage (38.2V when fully charged). If not, there is an open in one of the highlighted cables, connections or contacts on the attached schematic, or in the motor. If you do get full battery pack voltage, slowly press pedal to floor and the voltage ought to smoothly decrease to zero. IF it doesn't, check the throttle input to controller. Re: 1995 Ezgo
Should I have continuity from both micro switches when in forward or reverse? I have the F/R switch out of the cart. When I check for continuity i have it on both switches. Not in neutral. Thanks,

Re: 1995 Ezgo
I see in another post that Johnny calls it the hockey puck. How to test this switch? Thanks,

Re: 1995 Ezgo
It looks to me, from the wiring diagram JohnnyB posted, that one MS is closed in F and R, and the other one closes only in R.
I'm sure others will confirm, but sometimes you need an answer right now, since it's Friday. |

Re: 1995 Ezgo
Quote:
F = Driver side switch only. N = Neither switch is closed. R = Both switches closed. ------------ FWIW: EZGO uses the N.O. contacts in the microswitches on the DCS hockey puck type F/R and the movable cam pushes the lever to activate. The N.C. contacts of the microswitches on the series drive F/R assembly are used and the switch is activated when the lever drops into the indentations in its moveable cam. |
