PDS Gremmlins
Pds 36v with B2 and Alltrax Xct500 is leaving me dead in my tracks while on vacation. I took it on a two mile ride this am around the campground lake and parked it while we went to the beach/boardwalk. It was plugged in the charger when we left and was fully charged when we got back a few hours later. I went to take the kids fishing and when I hit the pedal, nothing happened. I had the lights on when the key was on and when I hit the gas, the lights went off. With lights off and in reverse, as soon as I hit the gas, the reverse buzzer would turn off. There is no solenoid click. Any ideas?

Re: PDS Gremmlins
Do you have a meter to check your batteries? I know you said it was fully charged, but might as well check pack voltage, if you can. We’re working johnnieb overtime today. As usual he’s helping a few different guys as we speak (myself included). While you’re waiting, see if you can do some advanced search judo and find his pds activation circuit diagram. If you have no solenoid click, that’s where you’ll start. At least that’s what I read anyway.

Pack voltage is 38.3. I’m thinking it’s something with the solenoid or key switch. I have a dvm I just need to know which points to check on my solenoid. It’s a super 400 from Scotty b

Re: PDS Gremmlins
Bad high amp cable or bad connection. Sounds like as soon as you are asking for power the connection is dropping out hence loosing all power. Do the tug test on all your heavy cables.

Re: PDS Gremmlins
All wires are tight. As soon as I hit the gas all power gets cut. If I flip the tow/run to tow, and then back to run, the lights/reverse buzzer will work again until I hit the gas. There were a few times where the controller fan would kick on for a spilt second when flipping it back to run.

Re: PDS Gremmlins
Test the battery pack voltage when you hit the gas and the cart will not go. Is the pack voltage dropping?

Re: PDS Gremmlins
Pack starts the same. I tested the two large studs on the top of my xct500 and the pack remained the same when pressing the pedal however it was only reading 34v. Not sure If that’s too low. I don’t know which terminals to touch with the dvm.

Check the voltage on J1 Pin-4 and Pin-5 while pushing pedal. Both should be full battery pack voltage (38.2V fully charged). The voltage source for Pin-4 is the reed switch in the charger port and the voltage source for Pin-5 is the battery side large terminal on the solenoid. ------------- Also, post some pictures. 1. Wide view showing battery pack, controller and voltage reducer. 2. Narrower view showing Main + and - terminals on battery pack along with XCT and MZJ400. 3. Close up of XCT and MJZ400 showing red wire from battery side large terminal to J1 Pin-5. |

Re: PDS Gremmlins
Do I test the pins by: cart in run, key on, one point of dvm on neg pack and one point on the j4 or 5 pin??
If that’s the case, j5 is 0 volts and j4 is 2.8v without pedal and 2.5 with pedal depressed. Edit; I think i May have tested the wrong pins. Where are the j1 4&5 pins? |

Re: PDS Gremmlins
Pin-1 is highlighted in Red.
Pin-4 is fourth pin from the left on bottom row. Pin-5 is last pin or right of bottom row. ---------------------- Full disclosure, I thought I had highlighted Pin-5 in red, but I realized I'd highlighted Pin-1 moments before I posted the image. |
