New to this site as well. And have been looking at lifting my cart also. Should note, going to get the mechanicals worked out first. The lift for my 86 Marathon is cheap! $75.00. By the time I rounded up the material, fabbed the lift myself it'd probably cost me $100, so I am going with the kit.

If you are dead set on building your own, look at some of the kits out there and get a set of installation instructions, then build somthing similar. Not much to lifting a 2WD Golf cart! If you build your own, post up some pics for us.

Thank you guys for the replys! I didnt think about lifting just the body, thats a good idea that Ill have to look into. As for a temporary lift, I have metal laying around and I have an idea. Ill take some pics and explain my idea to get some feed back in a little while.

Thanks, Josh

You can't lift the body....well, you might but it would look stupid and would be more work than fabricating a real lift.

pg i was being sarcastic with the block of wood, i was just trying to give an example of what i meant!!! man if you just paint it black no body is the wiser!! lmao!! btw when i said lift the body, i meant lift the frame by putting some type of spacer to raise body and frame off the axles!! sorry for the confusion!!

Alrighty, here is a rather crude depiction of what I am planing.

The red is where I intend to cut the front axle.
The blue box is where the spindle and attached axle will be relocated to.
The yellow triangles are the braces for the top and bottom to keep the spindle from bending up.
the green box is the big brace Ill use just for extra strength and to help keep it from flexing forward and back.

Ideas? suggestions??
