Default 98 TXT - shudders when throttle pressed

Ok. So have a 98 TXT. Series 36V

I bought it not running (had caught on fire) Here’s a more detailed look at how it started.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...ught-fire.html

When I first got it running it had a shudder when I first hit the accelerator (forward and reverse), but it went away when it picked up a little speed. A couple days ago it quit running and just gives a slight shudder. Jacked the back up and while pushing the throttle gave the tires a little help to spin and they started turning as they should.

What I’ve done so far:

-changed all four cables to the motor. They along with all cables to and from my pack are 2 gauge now.

-changed to Alltrax controller

-solenoid clicks when pressing the accelerator

-changed the micro switch and diaphragm, put the old ones on a running cart and it worked fine.

-Load tested all the batteries, all we’re fine.

-cleaned and tightened all four lugs on the FR switch

-bypassed the Reed switch.

Anyone know what else it could be? I’m at a loss.

Brandon,

The "Shuddering" at startup is widely seen to be worn/bad brushes in the motor, a faulty battery cable, and/or FnR switch related. Startup is when the most amperage is used.
Be aware that not all 2 ga cables (vendor) and FnR switches are alike..
Here is quick way to test the motor.....

If it passes OK, a thorough disassembly and check of the FnR switch is in order...

Hope this helps !

Just to update. It was the motor. Thanks Tex. Put another motor on and it runs like a champ!

In regards to the cables, I used #2 welding leads and made my own.
