Default Troubleshooting

I have a 98 model Ezgo TXT Series with an issue. When it is fully charged it seems to do well for about 1/4 mile. After that it refuses to climb the slightest hill and only vibrates. As you let off the accelerator, it seems to have a little more power, but still not enough to make it up. Four of the six batteries test out as good, while two test out as being only weak. I have taken the motor off and cleaned all the carbon deposits out and have found no other visible problems, brushes seem to be in good condition as well as all the other internal parts. Not sure if it's merely a battery issue, or if there's another problem elsewhere. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Classic sign of battery issues. Your 2 weak batteries have likely become out of balance with the rest of the pack and were not getting fully charged for long enough to permanently damage them. Are they the ones tapped for powering the lights? Try charging them seperately from the rest of the pack and see if they respond well. If not, start planning for replacement. It is best to replace the entire pack, but if that is not yet feasable try finding a pair of used batteries of the same brand and approximate age to get you by for a bit longer...

And, if you do find the lights are hooked to the 2 bad batteries (rear right & rear center batteries), you are a perfect case for a DC converter to power your lights.
