Default Battery gauge recommendations?

My 2000 TXT battery gauge was painted over when I bought the cart. I removed the paint to discover a non-working gauge due to a missing terminal. I soldered a wire to the stub of the terminal and got it working, but it's temporary at best.

I would like to replace it with something that gives more info, at minimum battery level and voltage. An amp gauge would be nice as i can verify condition by monitoring voltage drop vs amp draw. (I design and program industrial controls for a living)

Any brand gauges that would be my best bet for durability and accuracy? I see a lot of stuff on eBay and Amazon for cheap, but cheap often means useless in electronics.

I have one of Scotty’s digital meters too, and it works great, but unless he’s added something, I don’t think he sells one with an amp gauge too. I do know that I just saw someone post in the last day or two that had one and it had been working well for awhile. You might want to scroll through the last couple days, or try the advanced search.

Blue Sea volt/amp meter 8248. Been accurate and flawless.

I have a separate shunt/ammeter combo, but I've seen several people use electric automobile meters. Volts, State of Charge and amps are just some of the features. I think I remember even seeing some that estimate miles remaining.

That's where I would like to go. The combo gauge is nice, but to diagnose battery performance you need to see voltage drop vs amp draw. Since amperage and voltage are inversely related, if you see a significant voltage drop during a high current draw it indicates a battery that does not have a lot of reserve capacity. If you see this on a fresh charge, it indicates battery failure. If you see a large current draw without a corresponding voltage drop, it indicates poor electrical connections.

Just like a full set of gauges on an engine can give you clues into the health of your powerplant, a proper set of gauges can give you clues as to the health of your electrical system before the 'magic smoke' is released.
