When Did Manufactures Switch to 48v?
Hi guys,
I’m looking to possibly upgrade my 84 EZGO to a newer model. When did manufacturers start using 48v instead of 36? Thanks |

Club Car as early as 94 or 95...Yamaha around the same time. Not sure about EzGo but much later.

Re: When Did Manufactures Switch to 48v?
First mainstream 48v Yamaha was released in 1995 as a 1996 G-19e. Ezgo was late, waiting for the RXV in 2008 for mainstream 48v models (a few specialty/utility models before then were 48v).

CC 1995 DS
I don't think anybody makes a 36 volt cart any more. |

Re: When Did Manufactures Switch to 48v?
The RXV is an AC drive cart. I've never owned one because we are strictly a DC drive shop. The TXT48 is a 48v version of the 36v PDS (2000 - 2010) This PDS can be converted to 48v but the motor will need replacing.
The Early CC 48v carts were disappointing performance wise. They made little power and less speed. For cheap I would look for a PDS and add a 7th 6v or do the complete 48v upgrade. For a little more $ the TXT48 is totally worth it... with it's bigger stock motor. Good Luck |

Re: When Did Manufactures Switch to 48v?
I have a TXT48 and like it very much. The RXV is supposedly a more efficient system with far better torque (I've never been in an RXV, so that isn't first hand) but the RXV is certainly a more complicated machine and needs to be handled with more care when doing any upgrades to it. It also has softer suspension so it has more lean when cornering (again, not first hand info). The RXV people will likely chime in here shortly.

What about these personality chips in the TXT 36v? Does that really change them?

For the PDS only - it changes the speed limit and the regen braking strength. But not the power.
