Default Customize alltrax controller for best speed

I have a 1996 ezgo txt dcs 36v with 2018 batteries. Cart has lift and 22” tires. I just installed a new alltrax 400 controller and hi amp selenoid pkg from here. And also installed 2 gage wires. It has the stock motor on it. Cart drives good but only getting about 17 mph. I haven’t messed with the program that came set from Scottyb. I guess I need to mess with program via computer and usb cable to new controller. But is there any info to address 1st in the factory set program to make a little better speed and/or torque? Thanks for any upfront info before I log into controller w computer 🖥

The DCS cart does not monitor or limit motor rpm like it's Sepex cousins.
We send all of these controller sent out for Max speed and torque. You should be in the low 20 mph range. Monitor the battery voltage at full speed. If low the batteries or the motor could be bad.

If you use the TOOLKIT software here > https://alltraxinc.com/alltrax-tool-kit/
You can save a monitor file with us here and we can look to see the problem

What was the cart's top speed before the Alltrax install?
Does the Alltrax give any status code with a red flash? if yes what sequence?
Does the LED go from green to orange at full throttle? (test in neutral)

Thanks. Here is the info below
-15 mph w Curtis before it went bad
-only sequence I see sitting still is switching from F to R it flashes 4 times green then stays solid green
-in neutral, no light at all or with pedal all the way down
-light stays solid green in gear. But when given full throttle in gear, it flashes 3 yellow/orange very fast and stays yellow/orange solid as long as pedal all the way down. When you release or let off full throttle it goes solid green. When you depress full throttle again it flashes 3 quick times and stays yellow orange as long as pedal is down.

Another tidbit: drove for about 1.5 miles. Controller and all cables cool. But selenoid is pretty warm and the 6 awg wire (I didn’t change to 2 awg cause it didn’t come in pack I bought) from B+ on controller to - on selenoid is warm too. Should I change this wire to 2awg too? And should seleoid be pretty warm to touch ?

Sure Scotty will be back soon. In the meantime you probably want to get the pack voltage at full speed he asked for too. Then he’ll have all of the info to help you.

I believe your yellow light when at full throttle is normal.

This from the Alltrax web site:Solid Yellow: Controller throttle is wide open, controller is supplying max output, and is not in current limit.

Volts = speed and any high current cable, contact or connection getting hot means you are losing volts, so the "warm" 6Ga cable is costing you some speed. I suspect the A1 and A2 cable from controller to motor weren't upgraded to 2Ga also, and may also be getting warm.

There is a total of 10 high current cables in a DCS cart that need to be replaced when the high current cables are upgraded. The ampacity of the entire high current system is limited to the ampacity of the thinnest cable in the mix, so you effectively still have a 6Ga cable set.

It is normal for the solenoid to get a little warm since the coil is energized whenever cart is moving.

--------
Looks like the controller is going into amp limiting when pedal is first pressed to floor (Blinking yellow) and then goes to just the 100% throttle indication (steady Yellow). Might be due to oversized tires needing a lot of amps to get them turning.

---------
Record a data log at the continuous sample rate while driving the same 1.5 course, zip the .csv file and post it here. That will tell us more about what iis going on.

Thanks! I’m going to
A) get a voltage on pack while driving
B) record data and post file here

And in the mean time I’m getting 3 more 2ga cables
For sure. Makes sense for sure just not sure why the kit i bought had 7 only.

If you record data (collect a file) and share it here we will have all the voltage information needed.

Here is the monitor file to look at over the 1-2 mile run on the cart. I am ordering 3 more 2 awg cables to replace the last 3 remaining 6 awg for sure. let me know what, if anything, i can do to get best settings for the cart. I have some hills in neighborhood mild to moderate, and will be using it on the street 95% of time
