PDS 2000 model...wont go
Been running fine for a year or so...but now...nope.Got rained on pretty good.Got wet in the battery compartment.Even the controller and solenoid. After it dried out...it ran okay.Now..wont charge unless I puul up on the plug...hard.Battery pack at 37.3 after a days rest.No go!reverse buzzer works in reverse...but no go.
I had the cover off the ITS housing when it got wet. Any help where to start??? P.S.Batterys are old but read okay. One battery I had to repair a terminal with a screw into the lead to attach a cable. These are 6V batterys...each read around 6.3 to 6.4 |

Start by making sure the ITS is dried out...a hair dryer works good.
The see if you are getting power in and out of the pedal switch - since the box is open. |

Re: PDS 2000 model...wont go
thought I'd update this
Tested EVERYTHING...still no go. Isent my Curtis 1206mx off for repair...(great guy to do business with) Got it back in 6-7 days.Along with some test procedures.(I'll post later) I had already replaced the ITS and microswitch, solenoid, one battery and a few cables. Still no go...but after jumping the sloenoid...the **** thing finally moved. Replaced the solenoid...AGAIN...now it finally runs once more. |

Re: PDS 2000 model...wont go
Jumping or bypassing the solenoid only tells you the problem is in the control circuit. It tells nothing of the solenoid condition.
Is there 36 or 48 volts between the 2 small solenoid terminals when you try to go? If no, the trouble is in the solenoid activation circuit. Since the pedal box is open see if there is power in and out of the pedal box micro switch when you try to go. |

The solenoid activation voltage has to go through 4 switches (3 if reed switch is bypassed), 4 PCB runs and 8 plug/jack interfaces to get the the small terminal with the yellow wire on it, then it goes through another plug/jack interface and another PCB run to get to the Main Coil Driver and who know what to get to the B- terminal on the controller. That is at least a dozen and a half potential problem areas that need to be checked. Fortunately, most of it can be eliminated with one voltage measurement. When the solenoid is energized, you ought to have very close to full battery pack voltage between the two small terminals. If you don't, there is excessive resistance someplace in the voltage path. |

Dunno. He said replaced solenoid again, but I haven't followed it closely.
EDIT: It wasn't that I wasn't following closely, it was a five month old problem and an update. |
