My good deal TXT just became a great deal
My 2000 TXT that I picked up for $250 was a pretty **** good deal once I got the batteries fully charged... didn't need to repair the charger after all, batteries were just too discharged to kick it on.
Cart sat in the garage for a week, battery pack reads 37.2v... not too bad. So, I'm cleaning up the batteries, and I see the controller is full of scuzz, so I spray a little WD40 on a rag and start wiping it down.... and I see that I do not have a Curtis controller, but an Alltrax AXE! Model #4844 to be exact, so I have a controller that is capable of 48v and 400 amp output, plus it is tuneable! Downloaded the Controller Pro software, just need to get the cable and see if I can tweak it a bit. So now that I have a decent controller, I may just grab the two 6v batteries offered to me and do the 48v conversion over the winter. |

Re: My good deal TXT just became a great deal
sounds like a PLAN....and once you have had the extra speed and torque that 48v gives you, you will never want to go back. AND if/when you get a new pack, go 6-8v and it will get a tad more, as you will have lightened the load of the cart by losing that weight of 2 batteries.

Re: My good deal TXT just became a great deal
Will 6 8 volt batteries run the cart for the same amount of time a 8 6 volt batteries?

Look at what amp-hours are stored\available in each battery. For 6-V T-105's each battery has 225-A/H. For 8-V T-875 each battery has 170-A/H. Both of these A\H ratings are for 20-hours. Because your connecting these batteries in series (not Parallel) your increasing the voltage, but the amp-hour capacity remains the same. |

Volts and amps are inversely related, the higher the voltage the less amperage for the same work. However, if I am utilizing the higher voltage to increase the speed, then the 'work' is not equal.

Very good assessment, and one that many can't wrap their heads around. The "but if I utilize the extra speed, the work is Not equal" part. Nobody upgrades to 48v to go the same speed as before.
