Same battery cable terminal corroding
In 92 Marathon I had to replace a good quality battery cable after less than a year because the terminal had completely corroded. Located at battery "4" (rear battery passenger side) positive lug. NO other corrosion noted on any other terminals. Now noticing severe corrosion again on same terminal! Still no other corrosion on other terminals.
Any idea what this is telling me??? Thanks! |

Re: Same battery cable terminal corroding
Could be a bad/loose post in that battery.

Could be leaking slightly? You may just have to clean that post much more often than others, until you replace the pack. Use an anti-corrosion formula or Vaseline, to try and keep the cable end from getting worse.

Re: Same battery cable terminal corroding
Once the cancer is set in on that terminal, it might be in there too deep to get back out. I see this much more often on US batteries than I do on Trojans. I think the reason for this is that I believe the head of the bolt embedded in the lead is exposed on the bottom of the terminal on the US battery, making a perfect spot for corrosion set up shop where you have virtually no chance of totally eliminating it.
