2016 TXT DCS/PDS/TXT48 Identification
I have read all the guides but I am confused b/c my cart doesn't fit any description. I bought a 2016 48v TXT with a custom dash. The F/R is a rocker type under the seat. It has a tow/run switch so it must be one of the 3. I take delivery on Saturday but was hoping to ID this myself beforehand. Do some PDS or TXT48 carts have the F/R rocker under the seat rather than the dash? Given the model year and all other online descriptions I assume I have a TXT48 but might have a PDS. Anyone know for sure? Thnx for the help. I know once I get the cart this might be obvious but my curiosity is driving me crazy.

TXT48 does have a rocker switch just below the seat bottom. |

Re: 2016 TXT DCS/PDS/TXT48 Identification
Thank you Scottyb. I have been reading your site for a week now. I am 99.9% sure based on model year; your post that a TXT48 does have an under seat rocker (the web site mentions a dash rocker for PDS and TXT4; and the sticker on the side of the cart that says TXT48 (didn't know for sure if that was a model designation or just voltage) that I have a TXT48. I am running it as is for a while but will eventually buy your Alltrax 500 and cable kit tuned down for the stock motor. After that I'll upgrade the motor later. Thank you for the informative post.

Yes the TXT48 does have a body badge but the real ID is on the tag or sticker found on the frame cross-member above and behind the battery pack where it will say TXT48E

I'll check it when I get a look at it again. I was hoping based on the 2016 model year that it was a TXT48.

Scottyb,
Can your digital meter be wired directly to the batteries vs the keyed switch in the dash? I have a carbon fiber dash and a simple install for me close to the batteries would be much easier. |

Re: 2016 TXT DCS/PDS/TXT48 Identification
The meter can be mounted any where. I have hard wired the meters and left them on for 5 years or more in my use. In the case of a stretched cart it may be desirable not run the wires to the dash. The advantage of hardwiring is 2 fold.
1. get a more accurate battery reading without the resistance of the key switch 2. check the battery pack voltage just by walking by the cart and viewing the meter. Remember - Free meter give-a-way with any speed controller now through the end of 2018 at Carts Unlimited (link) |

Re: 2016 TXT DCS/PDS/TXT48 Identification
DCS and PDS is the drive system of a cart. The TXT is the model of your cart. And your cart is 48 volts. Dcs drive systems ended around 1998

And PDS ended about 2010. Which would leave only TXT48 except there is a 48v PDS model out there which has the 24 pin wire harness connector at the controller instead of the 16 pin connector used on the TXT 48.

Re: 2016 TXT DCS/PDS/TXT48 Identification
Thnx all. I am taking a look today when I drop off my check. Most likely its a TXT48. The PDS/TXT48 designation is still a bit confusing. I thought the PDS and TXT48 were both PDS based drive systems with the TXT48 being a form of PDS gen2. I am 100% certain I do not have a DCS but I was confused between the descriptions of PDS and TXT48. BTW Scottyb I ordered a meter and plate today. I will be upgrading cables and controller next.
