Bad Boy Buggy Classic “clicks” but doesn’t move
Brand new to electric carts “.”
I have aquired a Bad Boy Buggy classic and had to replace all the batteries - old ones were toast. I seem to have an intermittent lack of drive issue after I wash it or go through a water near the floorboard. I am very mechanically inclined, just haven’t found the information on how each component reacts to each other to make it work. A schematic that matches my cart would be a blessing. I feel it has something to do with the forward / reverse solenoids as I can mess with them and that normally seems to work. With the key on, the main solenoid entergizes and the forward/reverse switch works and you can hear the solenoids open and close. When you press the accelerator pedal you also hear a click but get no movement. When this happens you get maybe 5 times to try to press the pedal and then it stops and you have to cycle the key. Thanks for any help. |

Open the floor and look in the pedal box. The classics had F&R wiring issues and solenoid wiring issues. Or at least thats what I've ran into on these darn things. PM me or post a few more times to post a photo and serial number. I can get you a diagram, and anything else you need. Thanks!

Re: Bad Boy Buggy Classic “clicks” but doesn’t move
If there are two rather large blue controllers just under the inspection cover look for one or both flashing an LED somewhere, usually a click and nothing (or a click and one motor goes but not the other) you'll see one or both giving a flash error code, the one I see all the time is for MOSFET Short Circuit. Involves replacing bad controller(s) and getting an upgraded pedal assembly because the new ones are not programmed to accept the older one. We stopped working on them because customers rage all to heck when they find out the cost for parts.

I have the same setup. Green controller with the silver box on top. I’m looking for a picture or schematic of the solenoid and the forward reverse contactors. I believe mine are miss wired. When I turn the key the solenoid clicks but cart won’t move when pedal is depressed

Re: Bad Boy Buggy Classic “clicks” but doesn’t move
I too have acquired a 2005 BBB that was not running partly because the batteries were pretty dead but also because the previous owner had taken some of the smaller wires off the battery terminals. I've found several posted pictures of the hand-drawn wiring diagrams but I too would love to get a copy of the retrofit wiring diagram (post field retrofit controller being installed).
FF Titus, you seem to have a wealth of BBB knowledge. Any chance you could answer some specific wiring questions? Thanks in advance. |

Some won't even energize and will throw a fault if you switch the key on with the F/R in any position other than Neutral. Every BBB is different, the company is extremely hostile to mechanics who aren't dealers (who'd want to sell their crap anyway?) and schematics are either non-existant or rare. Cost for parts is often 3x higher than parts for a lifted RXV/TXT/other car. You can build a proper hunting 4x4 car for a lot less than the cost for a BBB that dies on the first run. Why folks still buy these piles of crap is a mystery. Around here hunters win them in contests and sadly find out later they got jipped |
